• Dr. Nielsen Donato and Dr. Lester Louis Lopez recently attended and represented the Philippines in the Association of Avian Veterinarians Australasian - Unusual and Exotic Pet Veterinarians Combined Conference in Hobart, Australia. Aside from learning from the experiences of the foreign delegates, the two presented a paper entitled "Avian Practice in the Philippines - Where are we now?" which dealt with the approaches and advances on medical and surgical cases encountered by avian vets in the country.

• More recently Dr. Marga Carpio and Dr.Siday Penaranda attended a local training on Homeopathic Medicine, particularly Acupuncture for Animals; and Dr. Nick Carpio and Riza Zunio on Ultrasonography.

Meet Bones, a 2-year old Pitbull.

Bones was rescued a few months back. He was sick, thin and had a bad skin. He stayed for a few weeks at Vets in Practice to get well. He's rebounded already and is now waiting to be fetched to go to his new home =P.

1. Petunia - a Sphinx-Scottish Fold mix has been with Vets in Practice since it opened in 2003. She is the active pet resident at night. 

2. Motombo - an English Mastiff owned by Dr. Nielsen Donato, has been helping a lot of other dog-patients by giving them a second lease in life. AND he loves getting his treats after that. 

3. Theo - a mixed breed, was adopted in 2007 by the Veterinarians after saving him from the streets. He has grown well eversince and has been guarding the second floor faithfully.

Michael A. Velhagen, DVM - graduated from Gregorio Araneta University Foundation, he specializes in canine and feline medicine and surgery.

Nielsen B. Donato, DVM - graduated from Gregorio Araneta University Foundation, he specializes in canine, feline and exotic animal medicine and surgery. He is at VIP Mandaluyong every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday morning; at Carveldon Veterinary Center in Cartimar, Pasay every Thursday afternoon; at VIP Alabang every Friday and does house calls except weekends when he is at the Laguna Wildlife Park and Rescue Center in Pansol, Laguna. He is also on-call at the Animal Care Specialists Clinic in Tiendesitas, Pasig City.

Nicholas G. Carpio, DVM - graduated from University of the Philippines Los Banos, he specializes in canine and feline medicine. He is at VIP Mandaluyong every Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday; at VIP Alabang every Thursday and at Carveldon Veterinary Center in Cartimar, Pasay the rest of the week except Sundays.

Margarita dlR. Carpio, DVM - graduated from University of the Philippines Los Banos, she specializes in both allopathic and homeopathic canine and feline medicine. She also has experience with exotic animals. She is at VIP Mandaluyong on Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Saturday; VIP Alabang on Thursday; and called by appointment at the Carveldon Veterinary Center.

Dr. Siday Himaya Penaranda (Animal Care Specialists) - graduated from the University of the Philippines Los Banos and specializes in small and exotic animal medicine. She is the resident vet of Animal Care Specialists.

Lester Louis L. Lopez, DVM - graduated from University of the Philippines Los Banos in 2005, he specializes in canine, feline and exotic animal medicine. He is the resident vet of VIP Alabang except on Thursdays when he is on several zoo consultations and NGO work.

Rizalina S. Zunio, DVM - graduated from Aklan State University in 2005, she specializes in canine and feline medicine. She is at VIP Mandaluyong.

Herbert R. Ferandez, DVM - graduated from Central Luzon State University in 2006, he specializes in canine and feline medicine and has experience on poultry medicine. He is one of the veterinarians at Carveldon Veterinary Center.

Melanie M. Pelayo, DVM - graduated from Aklan State University in 2007 and topped the Veterinary Board Exam the same year. She specializes in canine and feline medicine. She is on duty daily except Wednesdays and does night shift rotation as well.

Racky Velasquez, DVM - graduated from University of the Philippines Los Banos in 2007. He specializes in small animal medicine. He is the housecall vet.

Marie Gina L. Pineda, DVM - graduated from De La Salle Araneta University in 2007, she specializes in canine and feline medicine. She is on duty daily except Fridays and does night shift rotation as well.

Kathleen Gayle T. Tiu, DVM - graduated from University of the Philippines Los Banos in 2007, and specializes in canine and feline medicine. She is on day and night shift rotation and rests on Tuesdays.

Mary Alison Saile, DVM - graduated from De La Salle Araneta University in 2008, she specializes on canine and feline medicine, and on training for exotic animal medicine. She is on duty daily except Mondays.
